I am better than I was but not as good as I wish to be. I am making progress though. That is always good.

Yesterday I had mcdonald's for lunch. I was tired, hungry, depressed and had that lovely headache. I thought it would help. Food or shopping usually does. The fries tasted SLIMY. Too Fatty. I think eating healthier is finally changing my taste buds. The Big Mac was good though. That was almost 1000 calories. I didnt let it get me down, and get me to give up though. I decided then that I would eat a small dinner of a salad with beans. I stuck to it! I did not let one slip up mess up my mind. I can enjoy food as well as modify my eating.

Today I decided to get back on track with working out. I think it has been a couple of days since I have gone. I came home at 10:45 and talked Caritas into going. I did 28 minutes on the elliptical trainer, and did not feel like my legs were going to fall off. I also did 9 machines. I need to find the money to have at least 1 session with a personal trainer. I want to make sure I am doing the exercises correctly.

Today is a good day.

Does your YMCA offer the Personal Fitness Program (PFP)?

Here at the Y in Louisville they have a program where you meet with a trainer and you talk about your goals and they help set you up on a program. Its a 12 week commitment to go so many times a week (you set that up with your trainer) You get shown how to do things and then you meet with your trainer after 4 weeks to check in and maybe make changes if needed. Its a great program. I'm getting ready to start it at the Y here. You should look into it. It gets you help from a trainer without having to pay for sessions.

They have the 12 week program, and at N Lexington they have a 6 week program which is more expensive, but you meet once a week with the trainer. I want to do that as well. I called and asked about the 12 week one and they gear it more towards total beginners here and that is not what I am looking for. The 6 week one seems like a nice compromise. It is $50.

I am not a total beginner but I'm doing the 12 week. Since its one on one, they tailor it to where you are. At least that's how they work it here. I used to exercise on a regular basis, its just been awhile. Also there is no charge for this one, which is a good thing :-) You only meet with the trainer 3 or 4 times over the 12 weeks. I'm doing it mostly to get back in the habit and to have someone to check in with to make sure I'm doing things right and progressing.

Ah, you are lucky. The 12 week one here costs about $25 I think. I also like the idea of the 6 week one because I get to check in more often.

I'm right there, babe. This past week I've been awful. I gained 1.6 pounds back. :(
I'm back on the straight and narrow now though- and tomorrow I start weight training for real.
