Sometimes work sucks, (like the rant I did yesterday) and then something happens that makes it better. Very few times do I feel apprectiated at work. Mostly I feel overworked and very underappreciated. Today is not one of those days. I usually work landline Directory assistance. That is my scheduled work group. They know that when they need me they can page and send me to Wireless to take those calls. I enjoy the change, and the varity moving between the 2 groups allows. Everytime one of the RGMs pages me to go over they seem so happy that I am someone they can count on to move.

Today I got paged from a supervisor while taking wireless calls. She informed me that they are asking specific operators recommended by the supervisors on wireline DA to primarily take Florida calls. My supervisor recommended me. That made me feel very appreciated. I agreed to the new format because that means I wont have to take VA or NC or SC calls. Some of the people there can be so rude or just plain stupid. FL isnt much better, but to actually know I am going to be concetrating on one state is nice. They want the better operators taking these calls because there are so many different things for FL. I am honored my supervisor recommended me. It does make me feel special.

Congrats! It's nice when you are recognized for everything you do and how well you do it...especially by being selected for a service where they feel the customer needs extra "perfect" employees to polish the company's image!

Once upon a time I worked for First Data Corp, who handled 1800 collect, telecom usa, MCI calling cards, and a few misc LD services. This job made me loose all faith in and hope for humanity. I LOATHED this job, easy work sure, but I fucking HATED talking to these people. It DIDN'T matter WHERE they were from, chances were that the reason I had to talk to THEM was because they could not figure out the fucking automated menus.

I also from time to time got to call operators in other countires for numbers, international directory assistance, THAT was interesting. The FRENCH operators are smarmy cunts, its not a myth or generalization it is the truth, as are operatiors in INDIA, and all 3 In Russia.

Perhaps if I could have handled JUST those calls I would have been okay, instead I cussed out some kids from Peru who were screaming the 4 english words they knew into the phone.

I didnt follow the script. I wished thet blace would burn down, eventually they just shut down. HOOORAY.
