Seminar Last Night

I went to a seminar on the gastic bypass procedure and the lap band procedure. It ran from 6-7:30 and I learned much. I will be researching and weighing the pros and cons of all options before deciding. The next step is talk things over with my Ob/Gyn and my primary care doctor. I will have to see what they recommend. I will also probably look into support groups and online groups. The group that held the seminar was very knowledgeable and friendly.

I have an acquaintance that had the procedure done. She's quite happy with the results, but be prepared for about 2-3 months of misery while your body adjusts. That and very frequent visits to the doctor for blood work to make sure your nutrition doesn't get too out of whack.

I'm not 100% sure of the details. Just know she got gastric bypass at Georgetown. She was hospitalized twice with complications, so if you do decide to go with it or a similar procedure make sure you go to the hospital AS SOON as you start feeling bad. Don't let it get to the point that you have to stay if a quick visit can fix you back up.

I have an LJ friend who's done the lap band procedure. It's been very successful for her.
