Job thought again

I am a glutton for punishment each sunday. I look at the want ads. Today I saw one and am really thinking about applying. I just dont know if I could handle it. I have until the 20th to decide.

Pros: I would feel like I was making a difference.
Cons: It is to become a 9-1-1 operator.

Anyone have any thoughts about this? Insights? Ideas? Words of Wisdom?

I think that would be a good job to have as a 9-1-1 operator, I mean you would be helping save people's lives by sending an ambulance to their aid, the only downside will be trying to remain calm for them while they are panicing and trying to get them calm so you can get the information you need to send help to them. I say go for it ^_^

Why is that a con for you? I guess it would be pretty stressful, but other than that, you really WOULD be helping people in a pretty obvious way! And it seems like a stable, reliable job.

The stress and the pressure I am thinking. Plus I know the hours would suck because of it being based on senority. I figure I will just go and apply sometime this week. It cant hurt.

Everyone I know who has worked as a 911 operator really enjoyed it- but the hours can be awful.

The hours and the stress is about what I am worried about. I think I would like the job though. I wonder if the call center is downtown or not.
