And the wait is almost over
Feb. 14th, 2008 07:44 pmI applied for the 911 calltaker (telecommunicator) position back in November. They extended the deadline from Nov to Dec 31st. Starting about January 15th I called to check on the status. I have been calling every 10-14 days just to see. Today when I called I was advised that letters are going out TOMORROW with the information about how to set up to take the tests and to interview. This makes me a happy camper! I am still in a wait and see, but less of one.
Yesterday the big boss had me in his office since I had expressed interest in applying for a position that was posted and requested a self-nomination form. He wanted to know what was the problem/s and to try and work on it. He did make me feel really good and all, but I still want out.
I know if I go for the 911 job that I will give my notice and be asked why. I will have to explain that I have been interested in this job for years, even with the higher stress I think it would be something very interesting and I would feel like I was giving something back to the city. It would be something very fullfilling I think.
