This weekend the 4 of us headed to Memphis for MFM aka Mephit Fur Meet. We got on the road at about 1pm after some minor problems at Enterprise. We reserved a full sized car and they had NONE on the lot. The offered us a Jeep Patriot at the same price and we took it. It only had 10 miles and they had just gotten it from the local dealership. Let me say that NEVER again will we get this vehicle. None of us were comfy. I am still hoping my knees will survive. It was cramped even though it looked spacious and it was just hard to drive. The blind spots were horrible for me. I think there was one good thing about the car but now it escapes me.

We got to exit 80-B (aka exit BOB) on I-40 at about 5:30pm local time. Dinner was had at the local IHOP and then we rested on the rock hard beds at the days inn for the night. The hotel was very nice except for the beds being too hard. They had a free continental breakfast and we had donuts and other things. It was dunkin donuts!!!! Yippy. I have missed me some dunkin donuts. Hey Spydie want to be my supplier and overnight me bagels and donuts on a monthly basis? *grins*

We got back on the road and got to the hotel in Memphis at about 9am. Registration opened at 10 so we waited around in one area saying hi to people we knew from the net and years past. I got my badge and headed to a panel at 11 with Caritas called animal imitators. It was pretty good. After that I got a soda at the Critter Con Suite and went to check out the dealers room. Once again did not see much I was interested in. I am just not a big art collector.

At 1pm I went to another panel, this one called Furry Band Geeks. At about 1:05 the panel leader still had not shown up. I had seen him earlier in the dealers den and went to collect him. It was a shock seeing him earlier since he has changed his look some. At first it was distracting but after awhile it grew on me and he is still as cute as he was last year. Even looks like 10 years younger with the new look. *PURRRRRR* He had lost track of time. I had lots of fun talking about band which was cool. Low Brass Rules!

It was fun seeing lots of people we only see once a year. I had plans to go to other panels but instead ended up playing lots of games. I am really glad the con went back to non-hotel pizza for the pizza feed. It was so much better. I will write more later I think since still tired and sore from the ride back. I did get a nap though.

This is about the ride back last night and today. We left the con about 8pm and got on the road. Dinner was waffle house and then back on I-40 to get to the hotel. We had about a 3.5 hour drive to get to Nashville and the Howard Johnson's. It was an ok hotel, but not as good as the Days in we stayed at on Sunday. On the way down I saw a sign that stated at exit 97 on I-65 there was a Dunkin Donuts. I had been excited all weekend that we were going to stop and get some as we headed back to Lexington. Lets just say I was DENIED! Our hotel was at exit 87 on I-65. We got up and got out of the hotel about 8am to head towards home. We stopped at exit 97 for my coveted donuts. I drove in to a Mapco and as we filled up the car I went in to ask where the Dunkin Donuts might be. The very entertaining cashier explained it was down the street in the Publix shopping plaza. With my directions we headed out and went about a quarter of a mile to this brand new shopping plaza. We get in to see on the door... Grand Opening in 10 days!!!! Damn it!!!!

We instead drove thru McDonalds for breakfast and as we were heading out Phaeton noticed his leg was getting wet. His soda had a major hole in the bottom of the cup. We quickly turned into a gas station to clean up the mess and I went in and got him another drink for the road.

I hold very few fond memories of exit 97 on I-65 in TN now. *le sigh*
