I just said the magic words, I really want to stay your customer, to get the rate on a credit card lowered from 19.24 to 9.49.

Money Wrangling.

I decided it could not hurt to ask. I called about one credit card and found out that yes were were approved for a crappy rate and a crappy limit, so I canceled it before we even got it. I called the other card I applied for and found out we got a great rate and a limit high enough to transfer 3 of the high cards. Now once that has gone through I will call the 3 cards and definitely cancel them. Then I decided why not call everyone. I was able to transfer a 4th card to one of the credit cards I already have and lower the rate by over 7 percent. I was on a role. I went and called 2 of Phaeton's cards and got him to give them permission to talk to me and off I went. I was able to say some magic words: I want to stay your customer and not have to transfer the balance to another card. I suddenly was passed to an account supervisor and he was able to lower the rate by half.

I just had lots of fun. We went from 5 credit cards to 2 and at much lower interest rates. We also paid off a credit card with this most recent paycheck.

Next step will be figuring out our budget. It will work. We will get this paid off.
