Weird Walk
Sep. 12th, 2002 08:33 pmI got some surplus and decided to change my mind and go for a walk with Caritas. I figure if I am taking so much surplus I need to use the time constructively like exercising or working around the house. I shouldnt just sit on my ass in front of the computer.
On the way back down Broadway I hear this car run over something. Sounded like it was something bad to be in the road. I look over and see what I think is a cell phone. Of course I have to investigate. I watch for traffic, it is N Broadway afterall, and quickly go out to retrieve the object. It is a cell phone. Still on and working properly. I think it has only been run over once or twice. Looks like it wont hold a charge, but can receive calls.
We get home and I start to call the company servicing the phone. I find out the # to the phone and call customer service. The operator informs me that I just need to return the phone to a local store. What joy. As I go upstairs to inform Caritas about the new info it rings. I was so tempted to answer it! I also thought about calling the missed call or one of the phone #s in the called section. Decisions Decisions
In the end I call the # that came up on the call I didnt answer. I probably shouldnt have called from my home phone. What if these are drug dealers or something? Now they know who I am. I did do a reverse directory search on the # that called the phone. Registered to a female. When I called I found out that the phone belongs to the cousin of the person at the # I called. Follow that? :) I told the guy that I would be turning the phone into a store tomorrow.
My good deed for the day.

Date: 2002-09-12 07:37 pm (UTC)Having been on the other end of the lost cell phone story, I can tell you what a relief it was when my phone was found and then returned to me.
Isn't it fun to be a part in making someone's day that much better?
