Not for the Needle Phobs

At 7:30am I got to the lab for my blood work. I went downstairs and the phlebotomist had me sit and put up my right arm. I use to use my right arm to sell Plasma many years ago. There is scar tissue there now. I normally use my left for blood work since that is relatively virgin to needles. I leaned back and shut my eyes as she started. I did not feel the needle AT ALL, but it was taking awhile, so I opened my eyes to look. She was like I felt it, and feel it but it keeps moving. I watched her pull out and wiggle the needle 4-5 times and not getting the vein at all. Then she couldnt feel it anymore. I then told her that she should try the left, which she did. On the first try she got it. I can always tell with the left because I feel a sting when it gets into the vein for some reason.

No bruising and blood is drawn. All in all not a bad trip.

i used to be a professional vampire, years ago. i enjoyed it. it made my husband turn deathly pale to see me empty the syringes out of my labcoat in the evenings, though.

It sounds like a good phlebotimist. Where do you get your bloodwork done?

The Lexington Clinic location on S. Broadway. I go to the Lexington Clinic group for my doctors.

I get mine done at Central Baptist. They're hit-and-miss with the skill levels, but I know they get my blood work to the cardiac office promptly.

Gah. I had the needle wiggling experience the last time I GAVE blood. Afterwards I ended up fainting and was sick all day. I'm debating if I ever want to do it again.
