Daily Dose
Sep. 7th, 2004 04:24 pmI came home sick today from work and went to the doctor. I have been sick most of the weekend and it is wearing me down. The doctor gave me some antibiotics. I have gained back some of the weight I had lost due to mindless eating. Keep wanting to find something that tastes good but with being congested nothing really does. I need to concentrate on the positive that I am down a total of 23 lbs since March, and 12 since I saw the doctor last on June 25th. I need to get my eating back in line and start writing everything down. I basically took the weekend off since we were on vacation.
The weekend was fun. I went to the Zoo and got to see lots of cool animals. They have 2 snow leopards. PURRRRRR. The most money I spent at the con was actually at the Zoo. I did not see much in the dealers room to buy. I did lots of walking while at the zoo and at the con. I had more endurance, but not much more. I think some of it is from being sick. I have not been able to do DDR in about 5 days. I miss it. They were doing DDR at the con, but the guys were just way better than I. I did not want to look like a fool. I did give serious thought to doing it though.
The con raised over $15,000 for Tiger Haven. That is an average of about $30 per person. Not too bad. We got a cookbook that was put together by the staff and attendees. Jeshua got a pair of squirrel candle holders. They are so cute. We go to the Charity auction each year to celebrate our anniversary. We met at MFM 4 years ago. I asked him to go to the charity auction and then we went up to the hotel room afterwords. It brings back some very good memories when we go to the auction. I snuggle close and each year we find one thing that we are able to get at a good price that is special. I love my Squirrel. I got him a small anniversary gift at the zoo of a squirrel plushie. He makes me feel safe and warm inside. We have our ups and downs like everyone does of course.
I got to play lots of games at the con like Fluxx. I so love that game. I think I like it because it is mostly mindless. You can be brain dead and still have a good time playing it. No strategy needed. :) Anytime you start to use strategy someone plays a hand limit and everything is fucked. *giggles*
We left to go to the con about 11am on Friday and got to Memphis at 4:45 their time. We came home after closing ceremonies on Sunday leaving Memphis about 8pm their time and getting home at 4:30am. It was a long drive home. The rental car was ok. Next time we are going to go one grade up.
Guess that is about it. Maybe I will write more later.
